Malin Pilhede

Osteopath D.O.

So, who’s behind Aware Performance?Well, that would be an energetic soul named Malin Pilhede.

The journey toward opening my own clinic began already in childhood, when episodes about the human body, anatomy, and training on Swedish science shows were the most exciting thing I knew. From there, my curiosity only deepened. After a detour at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg and a degree in Business Administration, I realized I was heading in the wrong direction. So, I made a 180° turn—and enrolling to become a Certified Medical Massage Therapist and eventually starting my own practice felt exactly right. But my curiosity didn’t stop there. In 2020, I began studying to become an Osteopath D.O. in Gothenburg. I’ll be graduating in the spring of 2024—together with what might just be the coziest class in Sweden.

Movement is medicine, and as a CrossFit athlete, outdoor-loving hiker, off-piste skier, and now also a rider, freedom of movement and a strong body mean everything to me. It was also one of the reasons I changed careers.

During a rowing season in New Zealand, I injured my shoulder from overtraining before Nationals. We won gold—but it came at a cost. I searched everywhere for someone who could understand my pain, but kept coming up short. Eventually, I had to hang up my career—the pain was too intense, and training didn’t work anymore.

Some time later, I found CrossFit. Maybe not the ideal rehab for an old shoulder injury, but surprisingly, it began to heal. Today, I know that my rotator cuff injury could probably have been treated in about 20 minutes—followed by two months of focused rehab.

That experience lit a fire in me. I never want any of my patients to feel like I did—so I work thoroughly, curiously, and always give my best. Because I know how much it means to get the right help. Trust me.

When I’m not studying or working, you’ll find me puttering around the farm (there’s always something to fix), spending time with the horses, heading out for trail rides, or exploring the mountains—ski touring with friends and enjoying long, scenic descents. Soon, I’ll even have my wife joining in the steeper runs, as she’s currently practicing the fine art of skiing and snowboarding.

Alright, I’ll stop writing here—and just say I’m looking forward to a good conversation, a few laughs, and exciting challenges to solve together with you when you book a session.
